LIFE HOUSE, LITTLE HAVANA

Scope: Interior Design, Branding, Branded Collateral, Social Media, Website Development, & Bespoke Scent Development.

Role: Head of Design & Creative at Life House, Developer: Life House.

Constructed in the 1920s, the 33-key property is a part Miami’s designated Riverview Historic District. To respect the nature of the historic building and local Cuban community, a Guava-tone colour palette inspired by Little Havana architectural palettes was applied to the mission-style architecture. The property is designed through the lens of an expeditionist protagonist with a musing for Afrocubanismo—an artistic and social movement with origins in 1920s Cuba—and is furnished with a collection of travel mementos from global adventures. Guest bedrooms evoke the rich flavor of a tropical estate with dark local chevron wood floors, woven natural rugs and aged brass detailing, with gallery walls featuring art from avant garde Havana-based photographer Leandro Feal.

Terras — a tropical rooftop bar with unrivaled views of the Miami Skyline, sits atop the tropical urban estate with a menu inspired by urban street foods found throughout South American, Caribbean, and Latin American regions. An experience created to evoke the feeling of being at a high-born hostess' urban rooftop garden, where she culls herbs from the edible gardens to serve her most intimate friends under the stars.

Locally sourced books and objects of interest.
